    1984 Transfers To Playhouse Theatre

Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan's production of 1984 will transfer to the Playhouse Theatre for a limited 12 week run. The production opens on 8th May 2014 (previews from 28th April), following its critically acclaimed, sold out run at the Almeida Theatre.

1984 is a co-production between Headlong, the Almeida Theatre and the Nottingham Playhouse and is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel. The cast includes: Mark Arends, Tim Dutton, Stephen Fewell, Christopher Patrick Nolan, Matthew Spencer, Gavin Spokes, Mandi Symonds and Hara Yannas.

This morning the show received a 2014 Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play. It is the latest production to transfer from the Almeida Theatre to the West End following Chimerica and Ghosts. 1984 is designed by Chloe Lamford, with lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons and video designed by Tim Reid.

The West End production of Spamalot will conclude its run at the Playhouse Theatre on Saturday 12th April. Lovingly ripped off from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot opened at the Playhouse Theatre in November 2012. The production currently stars Joe Pasquale, Bonnie Langford and Daniel Boys.
