    BERTIE CARVEL TO LEAVE MATILDA THE MUSICAL

    Nominated for 10 Olivier Awards including Best Actor in a Musical for Bertie Carvel, the producers have announced some cast changes for Matilda The Musical staged at the Cambridge Theatre including the departure of Carvel as Miss Trunchbull. 

    He will make his final appearance on 1st July.  His replacement in the role has yet to be announced.

    Other changes are Paul Kaye who has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor in a Musical category for the role of Mr Wormwood and Lauren Ward also nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Musical category as Miss Honey.  They will be replaced by Steve Furst and Hayley Flaherty respectively.

    For the role of Matilda, which is played by four different young actresses (also all nominated in Best Actress in a Musical category), two of them will leave the show mid April.  Kerry Ingram and Sophia Kiely will be replaced by Isobelle Molloy who currently is one of the three actresses to play Amanda Thripp and Jade Marner.

    The rest of the adult cast including Josie Walker as Mrs Wormwood will continue in the show.
