Casting announced for The Old Vic production of The American Clock

Casting has been announced for the new Old Vic production of Arthur Miller’s The American ClockThe highly anticipated new show opens on 4 February 2019.

The West End American Clock cast is set to star Abdul Salis, Abhin Galeya, Amber Aga, Christian Patterson, Clare Burt, Ewan Wardrop, Flora Dawson, Francesca Mills, Fred Haig, Golda Rosheuvel, Greg Bernstein, John Marquez, Josie Walker, Jyuddah Jaymes, Paul Bentall and Taheen Modak.

The upcoming Old Vic piece will be directed by Rachel Chavkin, whose current production of Hadestown premieres at the National Theatre tonight (13 November 2018). The American Clock is a classic play by Arthur Miller that tells the tale of a three-member family - Rose, Moe and their son, Lee - who must live through the devastating hardship of the Great Depression in 1930s America. Chavkin’s production will feature three sets of actors who will rotate the main roles for every performance.

Chavkin made sure to capture the “epic scope of Arthur’s play” by including many different races, classes, and cultures in all four corners of the United States.

The American Clock will feature choreography by Ann Yee, set design by Chloe Lamford, compositions by Justin Ellington and costume design by Rosie Elnile.

The play was first staged on Broadway in 1980 before opening in the Cottesloe at the National Theatre in August 1986 and subsequently transferring to the Olivier Theatre later that year. The original play was directed by Peter Wood and starred Sara Kestelman and Michael Bryant.

The American Clock opens on 4 February 2019 at the Old Vic and is booking until 30 March 2019.
