    Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman to transfer to West End Gielgud Theatre following Royal Court Run

         When Jez Butterworth’s new play The Ferryman was announced there was an immediate buzz around it. In fact, when tickets to the run at Royal Court Theatre, directed by Sam Mendes went on sale they broke the theatre’s box office record for fastest selling show. Tickets to the entire run sold out its first day on sale. 

     

         Since the record-breaking sell out of the run, ticket touts and opportunistic buyers have been selling these hot tickets for well above double their face value.  But as of today disappointed fans no longer have to scrounge for tickets of dubious origins: a transfer to the West End Gielgud Theatre has been announced.
         The announcement comes ahead of the opening of the Royal Court run. The transfer has been announced in conjunction with Sonia Friedman Productions, Neal Street Productions, and Royal Court Theatre Productions. The 16 week run will begin previews 20 June ahead of its official opening 29 June and close its run 7 October 2017.
         All tickets for previews will be sold at reduced prices and more than 20,000 tickets under £25 will be available over the course of the run with prices for all performances starting at just £12. Paddy Considine is slated to reprise his role as Quinn Carney and will be joined on stage by Laura Donelly and Genevieve O’Reilly playing the roles of Caitlin and Mary Carney, respectively. The cast of 28, compiled from a full company of 38 performers includes  Bríd Brennan, Turlough Convery, Fra Fee, Tom Glynn-Carney, Stuart Graham, Gerard Horan, Carla Langley, Des McAleer, Conor MacNeill, Rob Malone, Dearbhla Molloy, Eugene O’Hare and Niall Wright.
