MISS SAIGON OPENS AT THE PRINCE EDWARD THEATRE

A celebrity packed audience including Stephen Fry, Julian Fellowes and Miranda Hart watched the return of Miss Saigon this evening as it triumphantly returns to the West End after 15 years.

Actor Eddie Redmayne, actress Samantha Barks and director Tom Hooper joined producer Cameron Mackintosh at the press night of Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil's musical, MISS SAIGON.

"I am so excited about tonight. I've never actually seen Miss Saigon but I loved the music my whole life. I've been waiting to see it on stage and I can't wait to see the cast and the show, which is amazing," said Barks.

Miranda Hart added: "I love musicals and I particularly love this because it has everything - it's dramatic with songs I might end up humming along to."

The revamped production, set during the Vietnam War and featuring a brand new cast, has opened at the Prince Edward Theatre. From it's original home at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Miss Saigon ran for ten years for over 4,000 performances before closing in October 1999. The production then transferred to Broadway before touring the world.
