Top 5 Musicals That Need To Have A West End Revival!

The West End is currently playing host to a whole range of brilliant revivals, with everything from Oliver! to Cabaret drawing in the crowds - so we've compiled a list of the 5 Musicals we'd love to see revived in London!,

Top 5 Musicals That Need To Have A West End Revival!

    In The Heights

Before there was Hamilton, Lin Manuel Miranda's hit musical set in Washington Heights played to rave reviews at Southwark Playhouse in 2014, before transferring to the West End a year later. Following the silver screen adaptation in 2021, it's about time the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical made a return to the London stage!

    Spring Awakening

This show set in late 19th century Germany can definitely be described as a Rock Musical. Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater have composed such stunning music that Spring Awakening is something quite special. The themes of the production are at times bleak and thought-provoking - ranging from first love to the aftermath of assault. One of the most powerful songs in the show, ‘The Mirror Blue Night’, is sung by Melchior and the ensemble - and we challenge you not to get goosebumps listening to it.

    Little Shop of Horrors

The mean, green, comedy musical, full of toe-tapping tunes, hasn't been seen on the West End since 2007! A production has been running Off-Broadway since 2019, and has featured stars like Jonathan Groff, Jeremy Jordan, Sarah Hyland, Maude ApatowSkylar Astin, Elizabeth Gillies, Corbin Bleu, Darren Criss and more - maybe a couple of them would be up for reprising the roles of Seymour and Audrey in London? We can dream...

    Love Never Dies

Ok, ok, a concert version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to Phantom of the Opera played at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2023 - but surely it's about time that it had a proper London run again? With the success of its predecessor perhaps Love Never Dies has not been entirely judged as it should as a separate entity. The setting of Coney Island is a genius concept and adds to the gothic romance of The Phantom and Christine. The title song ‘Love Never Dies’ is one of the most haunting songs in theatre, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and Charles Hart.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Last in the West End in 2012, Sondheim's award-winning musical had a Broadway run from 2023 - 2024, featuring Broadway powerhouses like Josh Groban, Annaleigh Ashford, Jordan Fisher, Aaron Tveit, Sutton Foster and more. Maybe a West End transfer of the same production could being some of those popular names over the pond...

What are the shows you would most like to see make a return to the West End?
