    ROOM ON THE BROOM FLIES INTO THE WEST END FOR A MAGIC CHRISTMAS SEASON

    Acclaimed Theatre Company, Tall Stories’ smash-hit Room on the Broom flies into the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue from 21 November 2012 until 13 January 2013, bringing a witch, her cat, a dragon, a few friendly animals and much more!
     

    Tall Stories’ magical musical adaptation of the bestselling book by Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson MBE and Axel Scheffler, takes audiences aboard a magnificent broom for an unforgettable adventure! Live on the West End stage at Christmas for the very first time.
     
    Room on the Broom is aimed at ages 3 – 8 years old and is the ideal introduction to theatre for pre and primary school children and their families. Expect enchanting puppetry, sing-a-long songs and hilarious fun for everyone.
     
    Brought to the stage by the creators of the smash-hit production The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom is presented by Kenny Wax and Nick Brooke, in association with Tall Stories. Directed by Olivia Jacobs, alongside Toby Mitchell as Creative Producer (both founders of Tall Stories), Room On The Broom has lighting design by James Whiteside, design by Morgan Large, puppet design by Yvonne Stone and sound & musicdesign by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw of Shock Productions.
     
    The cast are as follows: Witch: Morag Cross, Dog/Frog: David Garrud,Bird/Dragon: Sam Donovan with further casting to be announced at a later date.
     
    Join a witch and her cat as they fly happily along on their broomstick – until a mighty wind blasts the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night!  With the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog, her belongings are retrieved.  But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK! – it snaps in two!  When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch?  And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?
     
    Olivia Jacobs’s directing credits for Tall Stories include The Gruffalo (UK - including West End, USA - including Broadway, Australia – including Sydney Opera House, and Hong Kong), The Gruffalo’s Child (UK - including West End, and Dubai), Room on the Broom (UK, USA, Hong Kong and Singapore),  Mr Benn (UK and Singapore), How the Giraffe got its Neck (UK and Singapore), Monster Hits (UK & Singapore), Something Else (UK and Poland), Them With Tails and Them With Frozen Tails (UK and Poland) Mum and the Monster (UK), Rumpelstiltskin (UK), The HappyPrince and Other Stories (UK) and Snow White (UK, Broadway and USA).  Olivia was previously Artistic Director of Camden People’s Theatre where she directed The Monkeys Paw and The Necklace. She is co-founder and joint artistic director of Tall Stories.
     
    Julia Donaldson Children’s Laureate, is one of the most popular writers of children’s books and her titles include The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Room on the Broom.  Other titles by Julia and Axel Scheffler include The Snail & The Whale, A Squash and a Squeeze, The Smartest Giant In Town and The Tales From Acorn Wood Series.
     
    Axel Scheffler is known worldwide for his children’s book illustrations as co-creator of including The Gruffalo series, and for Jingle Jangle Jungle, Pip and Posy and Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.
     
    Kenny Wax & Nick Brooke are renowned for bringing some of the best of children’s theatre to the West End.  Together Nick and Kenny produce The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and the Olivier award nominated The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Both also produce independently.
