X FACTOR WINNER SHAYNE WARD TO JOIN CAST OF ROCK OF AGES

Shayne Ward, the 2005 winner of ITV talent show The X Factor, will join the West End cast of Rock of Ages.

Shayne Ward, who has released three albums since winning the talent show will play disillusioned bad boy Stacee Jaxx in the musical.

The news of Shayne Ward's casting follows on from the news earlier this week that comedian and television celebrity Justin Lee Collins will play ageing hippy Dennis Dupree.

Shayne Ward commented, “I cannot wait to take to the stage for Rock of Ages. It’s an absolute thrill to have been chosen for this part and can’t wait to show a new side to my voice.”

Rock of Ages is a rock/jukebox musical, with a book by Chris D'Arienzo, built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, especially from the famous glam metal bands of the decade. The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia, among other well-known rock bands.

The production of ROCK OF AGES is directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine with music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Ethan Popp.

Rock Of Ages opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 27 September with previews from 31st August 2011.
